Explosion on the North Shore

Not sure if you had heard in the national news about the major explosion of a chemical plant that occurred here last night. Kim and I live about ten miles away and it certainly woke both of us up last night. It felt like the whole building was shaking and although the blinds were drawn, the apartment did brighten from the light. Incredible. I had no clue what it was until I heard this morning on the local TV stations. I guess the fire rose several hundred feet in the air, produced a small mushroom cloud and even register 0.5 on the Richter scale all the way in Boston. It woke people up as far away as Maine and New Hampshire. Whoa. Anyway, here is the link to the story: http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=168549. Amazingly, even though about 60-80 homes were destroyed, no one was killed and only about 10 people experienced minor injuries! Miraculous.

Hi Lucas and Kim, When we saw the explosion on TV we figured you probably would have felt it. Weren't you a bit fearful of what had hit, especially in the night!!! Especially when your apartment lit up? Sounds like a scarey situation to me!! We wish you both a blessed Thanskgiving and send lots of love and hugs> Take care, NE Grandma and Grandpa

I am so thankful you kids didn't live any closer, what an awful sight that was. It must have been scary especially not knowing what had happened.
Well you have a great Thanksgiving Day.
We love and miss you both. Can't wait for the Dunsmore Christmas to see you.

Hi guys! It has been a long time, but we're still alive and well here in Indianapolis. Jeff and I are glad to hear you're ok after that scary explosion. I follow the news like a hawk, but didn't really know how close you lived to it!

By the way, we're not going to make it to the family Christmas this year, which is a bummer because we miss everyone. If it's not too much trouble, maybe we could ask you guys to write a blog about it listing the highlights ... you know, Debbie's OOOs and AAHs, the best gag gift, etc! We hope you have a safe trip back to MI!
Love, Lauren and Jeff

Indycousins,

We will definitely do that! Bummed to hear that you will not be able to make it, but it is a long trip from Indianapolis up to the top of the mitt. Go Colts!

I did hear of this on the news but didn't realize it was so close to you guys. Glad I didn't know that until now. Did it wake you from a sound sleep or were you guys kinda awake when it happened. It must have been scary. Glad no one was really hurt. Snow is on the way, the snowblower started this morning. Thank you Lord!! Mom
